DetDirax

DetDirax is a brute-force program to determine the detector position using DirAx.

Programs

The following other programs are needed.

Files

The program pk2drx uses also other information in the pkfile.

Start

Strategy

There are 4 strategies to setup the grid search. The 4 strategies are:
  1. menu
    Setup a single gridsearch.
  2. fast
Setup a single gridsearch. When done, the stepsize in each direction will be halved until all steps equal the grid size. A new gridsearch will be setup around the best position of the previous search.
  3. auto
Setup a single gridsearch. When done, the stepsize in each direction will be halved and the number of steps will be doubled and the process will be repeated until the whole grid has been evaluated.
  4. permutations
Use this option if detector offsets are available but their definition is unknown The program will setup a grid with all 8 possibilities.
For the first 3 strategies, you have to supply: Then you start the grid search with the command go.
Finally you can save the results with save.

again

Syntax: again
Repeat the last grid setup command (auto, fast or menu) with the same parameters.
Sometimes dirax fails to find a solution, probably because of strict filters on the solutions (see dirax.init). With another dirax run, a different set of reflections or trio's will be used, and this hopefully results in a solution.
If there are holes in the grid, again will re-invoke the last grid setup command (auto, fast or menu) and executes go.

auto

Syntax: auto C1 C2 C3 N1 N2 N3 D1 D2 D3
Setup a grid search. The central position (in mm) is defined with C1 C2 C3, the number of steps are defined with N1 N2 N3 and the stepsize (in mm) is set with D1 D2 D3. (The numbers in the arguments are: 1=distance 2=horizontal 3=vertical)
With the go command the grid will be evaluated. After completion, the stepsizes are divided by 2 and the number of steps are multiplied by 2. A new grid is setup. This process is repeated until the whole grid is evaluated.
Related commands: fast, menu, permutations.

central

Syntax: central C1 C2 C3
Default: central 0.0 0.0 0.0
Set the central position (in mm) to C1 C2 C3. (The numbers in the arguments are: 1=distance 2=horizontal 3=vertical)
You may use grid to setup the grid using this central position
Related commands: delta, nstep.

correct

Syntax: correct none/normal/full/debug
Default: correct normal
Allows command and option corrections. Commands and options are only corrected if input originates from the keyboard, and output is sent to the screen.

delta

Syntax: delta D1 D2 D3.
Default: delta 0.8 0.8 0.8
Set the stepsize (in mm) to D1 D2 D3. (The numbers in the arguments are: 1=distance 2=horizontal 3=vertical)
You may use grid to setup the grid using these stepsizes
Related commands: central, nstep.

diraxoption

Syntax: diraxoptions args
Default: diraxoptions randomize go go
For every grid point, a dirax run will be executed. dirax will read a drxfile, execute the diraxoptions, and save the best result in an rmatfile.
args is a list of valid dirax commands
The default options are:

exit

Syntax: exit
End of program.

fast

Syntax: fast C1 C2 C3 N1 N2 N3 D1 D2 D3
Setup a grid search. The central position (in mm) is defined with C1 C2 C3, the number of steps are defined with N1 N2 N3 and the stepsize (in mm) is set with D1 D2 D3. (The numbers in the arguments are: 1=distance 2=horizontal 3=vertical)
With the go command the grid will be evaluated. After completion, the stepsizes are divided by 2. A new grid is setup around the best position of the previous run. This process is repeated until the the stepsizes equal the grid size.
Related commands: auto, menu, permutations.

fom

Syntax: fom nfit/volume/distance
Default: fom volume

go

Syntax: go
Evaluate the grid. The grid has to be setup first by one of the commands auto, fast, menu or permutations.
For every gridpoint:

grid

Syntax: grid
Build the grid using the settings specified with central, delta and nstep.

load

Syntax: load rmatfiles
Use this command to load rmatfiles from the current directory. Syntax: menu C1 C2 C3 N1 N2 N3 D1 D2 D3
Related commands: auto, fast, permutations.

nstep

Syntax: nstep N1 N2 N3
Default: nstep 1 5 5
Set the number of steps to N1 N2 N3. (The numbers in the arguments are: 1=distance 2=horizontal 3=vertical)
You may use grid to setup the grid using these number of steps
Related commands: central, delta.

output

Syntax: output none/normal/full/debug
Default: output normal
Controls the amount of output.

permutations

Syntax: permutations d h v
Use this command if the detector offsets are somehow known and you do not know the definition of the offsets.
Sets the distance offset to d. h and v are detector offsets. The 8 possible interpretations (+h+v +h-v -h-v -h+v +v+h +v-h -v-h -v+h) of these offsets are stored in the grid. Use go to evaluate the grid.

pick

Syntax: pick
You click on a pixel and the program prints information regarding this pixel.
Related command: show

picksave

Syntax: picksave name
Save results corresponding to a picked point.

Related command: save

plot

Syntax: plot
(re)draws the windows.

printtodo

Syntax: printtodo
Print the grid points which will be be evaluated with the next go command.

save

Syntax: save name d h v rmat
Save results.
d h v are the best distance, horizontal and vertical offsets.
rmat is the best rmat file.
Related command: picksave

show

Syntax: show d h v
Prints information corresponding with the offsets d h v.
Related command: pick

size

Syntax: size n
Default: size 400
Specifies the window size in pixels. The maximum is limited by the window manager.

status

Syntax: satus
